About five weeks after parliamentary elections, Luxembourg is about to form a new government: in negotiations, the Christian Social People’s Party (CSV) and the Liberal Democratic Party (DP) reached agreement on a government program, said the main CSV national candidate, Luc, on Monday Paz, who is tasked with forming a government. The coalition agreement is expected to be signed on Thursday.

The three-party coalition of Liberals, Greens and Social Democrats, which has been in power since the end of 2013 and led by Liberal Bettel, was eliminated on October 8 due to the Greens’ bitter losses. The CSV emerged as the strongest party, followed by the DP. The alliance has a majority of 35 of the 60 seats in parliament.

Frieden said no details of the coalition agreement have yet been announced. Priorities included housing construction, strengthening people’s purchasing power, reconciling work and family life and environmental and climate policies that support people. CSV now returns to government after ten years in opposition.
