The Rude Boy singer told the magazine that Rocky is her “best friend” and admitted she couldn’t remember what her life was like before the birth of her son in May 2022.
Of becoming a mother, she said, “It’s all, you really don’t remember life before that, it’s the craziest thing ever.”
She added, “You literally try to remember it — and there are photos of my life before that — but the feeling, the desires, the things you enjoy, everything, you just don’t identify with it because mentally you don’t allow yourself to get that far because … Because it doesn’t matter.”
Rihanna said her first few months as a mom were a roller coaster, and she described the birth as a “head fuck,” saying she couldn’t believe she walked into the hospital pregnant and left with a baby.
“Basically, one person became two.” They enter the hospital as a couple and leave as a family of three. It’s crazy.
“And oh my god, those first few days are crazy,” she said. “You do not sleep. At all. Not even if you wanted to. We came home, cold turkey, had nobody. It was just us as parents and our baby. “Man, you’re mostly a zombie.”
Rihanna admitted that having a child also made her reevaluate her mind, describing raising her son as one of the “scariest” responsibilities of her life.
She said, “Raising a young black man is one of the scariest jobs in life.” “You’re asking yourself, ‘What should I leave my kids to do? This is the planet they will live on?”
“Everything changes when you have a baby, but I wouldn’t say it did anything except make us closer,” she added.
