Ringo Starr talks about the creation of the final Beatles

Ringo Starr talks about the creation of the “final” Beatles song, which he experienced “like the return of John Lennon” – RTBF

“He called me and said he’d like to work on ‘Now And Then,'” he remembers. “What do you think?” he reports, quoting Macca. “I think it’s great.”

The drummer continues: “So he turned on the bass, he sent me the files. I added my part to the drums. We’ve never been this close.” [Lennon] Seeing him come back into the room, so it was very emotional for all of us.”

The drummer added that “it was like John was there” with them in the recording studio.

McCartney previously explained that Lennon’s voice was “crystal clear” on “Now And Then,” adding, “It’s very moving.”

He added: “And we all play on it, it’s a real Beatles recording. To continue working on Beatles music in 2023 and to be about to release a new song that the public hasn’t heard yet, I think it’s something exciting.”

A 12 minute film titled “Now And Then – The Last Beatles Song,” written and directed by Oliver Murray, will air on La Trois on November 3rd. This poignant short film tells the story of the Beatles’ final song with exclusive footage and commentary from Paul, Ringo, George, Sean Ono Lennon and Peter Jackson.

Additionally, next Friday (November 10), The Beatles will release new expanded editions of “1962-1966 (The Red Album)” and “1967-1970 (The Blue Album),” mixed in stereo and Dolby.

The track ‘Now And Then’ was revealed through cassette recordings on social media and online, as well as screenings in the Fab Four’s hometown of Liverpool.
