Composer Roberto de Carvalho spoke out about the death of Rita Lee, to whom he was married. While participating in the podcast “Rita Lee: Another Autobiography The Podcast,” the widower said much of his life died with the singer.
Rita Lee died of cancer on May 9, 2023 at the age of 75.
In episode (5) released this Monday, Roberto says he and Rita had their own personalities in their marriage and that he called her a rabbit the singer, meanwhile, called him a whale when he was alive. “I was at Granja the other day and I thought the rabbit died, a part of me died with her and this piece is big,” he said.
He also notes that the couple avoided talking about the artist’s illness and says their son João Lee was emotionally better able to handle the case.
“Even though João was the guy that was there, he was more intellectual than me,” says the composer. “Even though he had cancer and was emotional, he was undoubtedly in better emotional balance than I was.”
