Coinciding with her mother's 60th birthday announcement, Rita explained that she had wanted to write a song about her mother for “a long time” and now felt like she had “finally been able to share so much.”
Rita shared the teaser with her 16.1 million Instagram followers and announced that the full version will be released on January 26th.
She captioned the clip: “Happy birthday mom!” We've been through everything together, you've always been such a beautiful inspiration in my life and music.
“I've always wanted to write a song about you, and when 'Shape Of Me' was written and released by me and the You & I writing team for my album, I was finally able to share so much of what was close to my heart about you.”
Rita continued, “It really became clear how much love you have shown me and how much you have taught me over the years!!
“So what better way to say HBD than to share a new version of it with the AWESOME @keithurban…
