The Carolina Panthers linger in talks about possible targets for quarterback Baker Mayfield. Panthers receiver Robby Anderson isn’t a fan of that possibility.
Via USA Today, a fan Instagram account published an article with a report from NFL Media’s Ian Rapoport that the Panthers are the most likely target for Mayfield. Anderson responded with one word, “Nooooo.”
Here’s the reality. Players talk to other players. And there has yet to be a single Browns player who has spoken out for Mayfield through every turn of a topsy-turvy offseason. For example, Mayfield recently said he didn’t think the Browns respected him. To our knowledge, not a single current or former Browns player has publicly endorsed Mayfield.
There must be a reason for Anderson’s animosity toward Mayfield. Maybe he spoke to Odell Beckham Jr. or someone else who played with Mayfield. Someone like Jarvis Landry, pictured here chatting with Anderson.
If there is something to it, then the question arises whether other players from other teams feel the same way. It’s a valid question, whatever the answer may be. And it could become a very real obstacle to Mayfield’s ability to pursue his career anywhere.
