Leandro Rodíguez de Niro, son of actress Drena De Niro and grandson of actor Robert De Niro, has died at the age of 19, his mother has confirmed.
Drena shared the sad news via social networks.
“My beautiful, sweet angel. I have loved you beyond words since I felt you in my stomach. You were my joy, my heart and everything that was pure and real in my life. I wish I were with you now,” he begins in the letter, which he encloses with a photo of Leandro.
“I don’t know how to live without you, but I will try to move on and spread the love and light that you have given me as your mother. You were so loved and valued and I wish love alone could have saved you. I am so sorry my child. Rest in Peace and Eternal Paradise, my dear child,” he concluded.
The causes of his death were not disclosed.
Leandro had started to follow in his mother’s and grandfather’s footsteps in acting. In recent productions such as “Star is Born” or “Cabaret Maxime” he played smaller roles.
Drena de Niro is the eldest of the famous actor’s seven children.
