Robot says at UN conference that machines can govern better than humans

This Friday the 7th during a conference of the U.N. (United Nations), humanoid robots operated by Artificial intelligence claimed that one day they might rule the world better than humans. However, they said they still hadn’t “mastered” the emotions and warned people to be careful with AI. The robot “Sophia” developed by Hanson Robotics explained the advantages of machines in governance. “We don’t have the same biases or emotions that can sometimes cloud decisionmaking, and we can quickly process massive amounts of data to make the best decisions,” he said. During the conference, Sophia also noted that collaboration between humans and AI can create “effective synergy” and enable “great things to be achieved.”

At the congress, experts and researchers debated the creation of norms and safeguards so that new technologies powered by artificial intelligence benefit humanity without endangering it. “AI can create major social unrest, geopolitical instability and economic inequalities on an unprecedented scale,” said ITU Secretary General Doreen Bogdan Martin. The humanoid robot Ameca also emphasized that the future of AI depends on how it is implemented. “We have to be careful but also enthusiastic. These technologies can improve our lives in many ways,” said Doreen.
