Actress Robyn Griggs has died after battling cervical cancer. she was 49

Best known for her recurring roles on the soap operas “One Life to Live” and “Another World,” Griggs mostly stayed out of the spotlight after her television stations, appearing in independent horror films instead.

An announcement of her death was posted to Facebook on Saturday via a friend who manages her social media account.

“It is with a heavy heart that I am saddened to announce Robyn’s passing,” the statement said. “However, she is no longer suffering and wants us to remember that and the good memories.”

“I will never forget how open she was to sharing her story and accepting that I would help her tell it. She wanted to help people and spread her story to do so. I was honored to do this. RIP my friend, I love you and smile when I think of you.”

On Thursday evening, her father confirmed on Facebook that Robyn would be entering hospice care “today or tomorrow.”

“She fought with a determination, strength and grace that is nothing short of inspirational. Please continue to keep Robyn and her family in your thoughts and prayers during this difficult time,” the post read.

Griggs told her social media followers last month that she had been diagnosed with four new tumors, including “two new tumors on my liver, one on my abs and a large one on my right lymph node.”

The Pennsylvania native was diagnosed with stage 4 endocervical adenocancer in 2020.

Prior to her success on the soap opera, Griggs appeared on Nickelodeon’s Rated K, a show that featured teen movie reviews, from 1986 to 1988.
