Cullman Police are searching for people involved in an assault Saturday night at the Rock the South music festival that left at least one man hospitalized.
Event organizers are offering a $10,000 reward.
Cullman Police referred AL.com to a statement on the department’s Facebook page.
“The Cullman Police Department is aware of the attack that took place in Rock the South last night,” the statement said. “A complaint is being filed and an investigation is ongoing.”
“We are relying on the help of the public to identify those involved,” the statement said.
Kaci Howard identified her son as a victim of an assault at the Rock the South event in a Facebook post on Sunday.
“PLEASE help me find the cowards who did this to my son at Rock the South tonight. “There were several adult men (30-40) who jumped on him and knocked him unconscious while his girlfriend stood there screaming and crying for help,” Howard explained.
“They continued to beat him while he was on the ground until security finally caught them and got Reid and Katie out of there and into an ambulance. He has a broken nose, a concussion, stitches and knots the size of softballs on the back of his head. He didn’t even see it coming. They jumped at him out of nowhere because one of them said he spilled a drink on him. Reid didn’t even have a drink in hand. Anyone who has ever met Reid knows his personality. He never meets a stranger, he can get along with literally anyone. He’s a good boy and he doesn’t deserve it. PLEASE share it and help me figure out who is responsible for this.
“One of them had long curly hair, a red, white and blue hat, was about 1.80 meters tall and a taller guy was wearing a white shirt. I don’t have a precise description of the others, but I know a lot of people have seen it, so does anyone know who these cowards are.”
The video of the fight was published on Facebook.
“Please let me or the Cullman Police Department know if you recognize any of these guys,” Howard wrote.
Laura Quick, wife of festival founder Shane Quick, confirmed to AL.com that there will be a $10,000 reward and lifetime tickets to the event for information leading to the arrest and conviction of those responsible for the assault.
This year’s event featured 16 acts over the three nights, including headliners Chris Stapleton, Riley Green and Zach Bryan, while Dee Jay Silver DJed tunes between sets.
At the conclusion of Saturday night’s event, Shane Quick announced to the audience that Rock the South broke attendance records. “This is the biggest Rock the South in history,” said Shane Quick. “People from 13 countries are here tonight. Every single state in the United States of America is here tonight.”
