Rocket: Cayden Primeau can’t do it alone

Less than a day after being sent under the shower in the game against Rochester Americans, goaltender Cayden Primeau put on a brave performance against the Toronto Marlies, but the Laval Rocket were still defeated 3-2 at the Coca-Cola Coliseum on Saturday.

The American has often been left to his own devices, as evidenced by his 46 saves. The Rocket came from behind twice, but Max Ellis made the difference with 4:56 of the game.

Erik Kallgren was much less challenged and received 21 shots, but he saved in the important moments. The goaltender, who also sniffed National League air that season, frustrated Riley McKay with a two-for-one run in the second half and also closed the door on Nate Schnarr with a penalty midway through the first half.

Defender William Trudeau scored his third goal of the year with a nice run into the offensive area and equalized after a pass from Graham Slaggert. Mitchell Stephens also scored for the visitors, this time against Bobby McMann.

The Rocket will return home to face off against the Americans on Wednesday and Friday. Head coach Jean-François Houle’s side picked up just three points out of a possible ten during their five-game journey.
