The concert that Roger Waters was scheduled to give on May 28 at the site of a Jewish internment camp during World War II in Germany has been cancelled.
The Frankfurt City Council, which made the decision, described the ex-Pink Floyd singer and bassist as one of the greatest anti-Semites in the world.
Roger Waters was scheduled to perform at the Festhalle in Frankfurt as part of his This is Not a Drill tour.
In 1938, this theater was an internment camp for Jewish fellow citizens before their deportation to concentration camps. The Frankfurt city administration owns 60% of the shares in this event hall.
“The background to this cancellation is the ongoing anti-Israel behavior of the former Pink Floyd frontman, who is considered one of the world’s most notorious anti-Semites. He has repeatedly called for a cultural boycott of Israel, drawn comparisons to the apartheid regime in South Africa and pressured artists to cancel their events in Israel,” the city councilor told the Jewish Telegraphic News Agency.

Answer from Waters
The musician has also been criticized for using an inflatable pig-shaped airship, which featured a Star of David on previous tours.
In response, ex-Pink Floyd posted a video on Twitter by Palestine Chronicle reporter Dr. Ramzy Baroud, in which he claimed that Roger Waters’ support for Palestine was the sole reason for the city authorities’ cancellation of this spectacle.
“I love you, brother,” Waters replied.
This concert was scheduled to be presented during the European segment of the This is Not a Drill tour, which kicks off on March 17th in Lisbon, Portugal. Roger Waters will be performing in Germany during this series of shows, with stops in Hamburg (May 7th), Cologne (May 9th), Berlin (May 17th and 18th) and Munich (May 21st). The canceled Frankfurt concert is still available on Roger Waters’ website.
