Roger Waters: Hamas attack “exaggerated” by Israel Suedtirol News

Controversial British rock musician Roger Waters accused Israel of “exaggerating” Hamas’ Islamist attack and “making up stories.” The founder of Pink Floyd stated in an interview with American journalist Glenn Greenwald on the “System Update” program that many of the victims of the attack were Israeli soldiers. “This is not a war crime.”

More than 1,400 people, including many women, children and young people, were killed in the worst massacre in Israel’s history, on October 7 and the following days.

Waters’ first reaction when he heard about the attack was to wait and see “what happened.” The musician said he then wondered why the Israelis hadn’t predicted the attack. “This is very strange.” When Greenwald asked whether Hamas’ devastating attack was justified, Waters avoided the question. “We don’t know what they did. But would it be justified to resist the occupation? Yes!”

The 80-year-old, who has been accused of anti-Semitism several times in the past, added that he was against any war crimes. However, he expressed doubts that this had happened in Israel. “There may have been isolated incidents,” Waters said. “Of course” he condemns the murder and kidnapping of civilians. “But the whole thing was exaggerated by the Israelis, who made up stories about babies being decapitated.”

In the weeks after the massacre, video recordings and images were published, including recordings from the terrorists’ body cameras. Paramedics, in particular, reported horribly mutilated corpses they found in towns across the Gaza Strip, including young children. A compilation of video footage was shown to journalists and diplomats to illustrate the extent of the atrocities committed by Hamas.
