Decided. ‘Juanpi’ made it into the main draw of the ATP 250 tournament in Santiago de Chile and is aiming for a direct place in the Paris tournament.
Juan Pablo Varillas’ pro career has taken an expected and well-deserved turn in the past week. The first national racket climbed to position 81 in the ATP ranking, only surpassed by the 21 places of the Dutch Tallon Greek Railway (40 ATP) and for the Australian’s great recovery Thanasi Kokkinakiswho returned to the top 100 with 41 climbing spots.

However, “Juanpi” wants more. The Peruvian could secure a place at Roland Garros, a tournament he made his debut at last year after winning all three of his qualifiers. This year his classification can be direct and for that he must remain in the top 100 of the rankings until April 17th. While his current position on the all-important list might vary, his goal is not to be left out of the top 100.
For now, Varillas has managed to enter the ATP 250 tournament Santiago de Chile, which takes place from February 27th to March 5th. This after the Argentine Friedrich Koria, who is ranked 56th in the ATP ranking, will confirm that he will not make the tournament due to injury and his place will be taken by the Peruvian, who will play a new South American tournament in the main draw.
