Former WWE writer Vince Russo doesn’t think Cody Rhodes will be the one to dethrone Roman Reigns.

After several years away, Rhodes returned to the Stamford-based company last year. He has since expressed his desire to win the Undisputed WWE Universal Championship from Reigns. The American Nightmare challenged The Tribal Chief for the title at WrestleMania 39 after winning the 2023 Royal Rumble. However, he lost after Solo Sikoa helped the leader of The Bloodline.

On the latest episode of his podcast The Brand, Russo claimed that none of the current superstars would dethrone Reigns, including Rhodes. He explained why The American Nightmare shouldn’t be the one that ends the tribal chief’s historic 1,000-day title reign.

“With all due respect to Cody Rhodes, who does a great job for WWE, do you really believe for one second that giving Cody Rhodes this title will increase RAW numbers? Do you really believe that for a second?

That won’t happen, brother. It’s not going to happen. So if your business isn’t growing, why change the title? Russian said.

A former WWE champion wants a title shot at Roman Reigns

The tribal chief has defeated several challengers in recent years, including top stars such as Brock Lesnar, Cody Rhodes, Drew McIntyre and John Cena. Now another former world champion wants a shot at Reigns’ title.

Speaking to WWE news portal and other wrestling outlet CNN News 18, Jinder Mahal stated that facing Reigns would be “unbelievable.”

“[¿Qué le depara el futuro a Jinder Mahal?] Yes, that’s an interesting question. Yes, of course I would like to become champion again in the future, whether it’s Seth Rollins’ championship or, you know, Roman Reigns securing the undisputed championship. [Universal] from WWE. It would be incredible to face Roman Reigns. But the Maharaja is definitely not done yet,” he said.
