Romania’s Defense Ministry confirmed that the country was hit by debris from a drone fired by Russian forces during a bombing raid on a Ukrainian port.
The Ukrainian Foreign Ministry reported the crash of a drone on Romanian territory last Monday (4). The Ukrainian port of Ismail, which was attacked by Russian forces this week, is just meters from the border with Romania, but authorities have denied in the last two days that the country was attacked.
In an interview with CNN, Romanian Senator Angel Tilvar confirmed that parts of the drone had been found, but assured that there was no military threat. Tilvar’s position is a way to contain a possible expansion of the conflict between Russia and Ukraine in border countries.
In recent weeks, Russian attacks against Ukraine have increased, also hitting ports in the Odessa region. This Wednesday, at least 16 people were killed in bomb attacks in Kostiantynivka in eastern Ukraine.
