Florida Gov. Ron DeSantis is expected to step into the 2024 presidential election next week, two Republicans with knowledge of the matter told CNN.

DeSantis will reportedly file documents with the Federal Elections Commission next week confirming his candidacy, a Republican said.
An official announcement is expected in his hometown of Dunedin, Florida, the following week.
The filing of the documents comes as DeSantis rounds up top donors in South Florida, where CNN previously reported he would signal to them that it’s time to ask their friends for funding.
According to another source, about 100 hotel rooms have been reserved for the gathering at the Four Seasons Hotel in Miami.
However, the same source warned that planning remains a moving target and DeSantis has been known to surprise its closest allies with last-minute changes.
Donors gathered in Miami are waiting for the campaign to officially begin so they can begin calling donors upon arrival in South Florida.
