Rose Leslie has revealed that her husband Kit Harington’s past alcohol addiction is “his responsibility” and that it is entirely up to him if he chooses to drink again.
The 35-year-old actress said she “won’t make him make good decisions” and refuses to “put that pressure on himself” during a candid new interview.
Game of Thrones actor Kit, also 35, revealed he was suffering from alcohol addiction in 2019 after the hit series ended and checked into the Privé Swiss retreat in Connecticut to recover.

Rose told Harper’s Bazaar, “I’ve learned a lot about addiction and it’s something Kit will forever be aware of, but it’s up to him if he decides to go back to drinking.
“No amount of childcare is going to stop him from doing what he chooses to do… I don’t put that pressure on myself. He is responsible for his behavior. It’s not up to me to save him from that.”
“It’s very important for Kit as an addict to recognize himself as an addict.
Speaking your mind: The actress, 35, said during an interview with Harper’s Bazaar that she’s “not going to make him make good decisions” and refuses to “put that pressure on himself”.
“The AA community has provided such a loving space for him to feel heard and to make sure he is not alone. But without the rehab, he would be in a very different headspace now.
Rose also said she’s “doing fine,” noting that Kit was struggling with an addiction in 2019, “so we’re in his sobriety now for several years.”
Last year, Kit spoke bravely about surviving alcoholism and depression in a candid interview with The Sunday Times.
The actor, who rose to global fame with his role as Jon Snow on Game of Thrones, said he’s “been through some pretty horrible things” in the years since the fantasy drama series ended in 2019.

Kit, who was sober for two and a half years after a stint in rehab, revealed that while he is now “very happy” and “satisfied,” he had once battled suicidal thoughts.
“I’ve been through some pretty horrible things,” Christopher, who goes by the nickname Kit, told the publication while describing his life after the series ended.
“Things that have happened to me since the end of Thrones and that have happened during Thrones have been quite traumatic in nature and involved alcohol,” he revealed.
Kit went on to describe his experience of hitting rock bottom, which led to a stint in rehab at the Privé Swiss retreat in Connecticut that cost £95,000 a month.
When asked by the publication if he’d ever considered suicide, Kit hesitated before saying, “The answer is yes. Yes of course. I went through periods of real depression where I wanted to do all kinds of things.’
Kit said he hoped his comments would help others who are suffering and admitted to being very “mysterious” about his addiction.
“I will say about my addiction that I kept them very, very quiet and I was incredibly secretive and incredibly closed up with them,” he confessed.

Kit shared a rare glimpse into fatherhood in a recent interview with Access Hollywood.
The star admitted he didn’t understand how great the journey of fatherhood was until he embarked on it himself.
He said, “Everybody’s like, ‘Look, it’s big what you’re going to go through.’ You have no way of knowing that until it happens.’
“Every day I wake up and take care of this little human and now we are part of one unit together.
“I think what surprises me the most about fatherhood is that now the three of you are one, and that’s a whole new dynamic that you have to find.”
Kit added: “I find pretty much every day when he grows and changes, how does that change you? It’s a beautiful thing, it really is.”
Kit and Rose confirmed the arrival of their baby boy last February but have not revealed his name.
The couple have largely stayed out of the public eye since announcing Rose was pregnant earlier in September.
They celebrated their three-year wedding anniversary last summer after tying the knot in June 2018 at Rose’s noble family’s spectacular 12th-century Wardhill Castle in Aberdeenshire.
