A 39-year-old man, arrested the day before in Rouyn-Noranda, Abitibi-Témiscamingue, appeared at the courthouse on Wednesday to answer charges of sexual assault and sexual contact with a minor.
The acts alleged against David Hamel are said to have been committed between September 1, 2022 and February 24 of the current year.
The suspect remains in custody pending further trial, said the Sûreté du Québec (SQ), whose investigators are still reviewing the defendant’s file.
