The University of Sherbrooke’s Vert & Or will not retain the services of head coach Mathieu Lecompte.
The institution’s Sports and Physical Activity Department announced this on Tuesday, stating that the pilot’s contract would not be renewed.

Lecompte took over the management of Vert & Or from David Lessard in 2017. His team held a record of 14-34.
In 2023, the Université de Sherbrooke football team suffered its worst season since the 2003 season. It posted a 1-7 record in the regular season and was completely dominated by the Carabins de the University of Montreal 54-3 in the semifinals.
In a press release, the school’s decision-makers indicated that Lecompte’s replacement should come from within the organization.
“Given the quality of players currently in use, the appointment of the next head coach will likely be made internally,” they wrote in their letter.
Among the people already working at Vert & Or, special teams coordinator Kevin Régimbald and offensive coordinator Dominic Picard stand out.
Elsewhere in college football, the Carabins are preparing to compete in the Uteck Cup this Saturday. Division champion Quebec hosts the Western Mustangs. The game will be broadcast on TVA Sports.
