Rudy Giuliani, former mayor of new york and trusted attorney of Donald Trump, filed for bankruptcy just days after being ordered to pay $148 million in defamation damages. The conviction was based on unfounded allegations of election fraud in Georgia against two former election workers from Atlanta, which he made in his capacity as Trump's lawyer in the US presidential election he won Joe Biden in 2020.
The huge compensation amount adds up to one Long list of debts which Giuliani can no longer afford, in particular the legal fees incurred during the various proceedings initiated against him.
