Speculating about the rumors surrounding pro wrestling is a favorite pastime for many fans, perhaps even more important than watching the matches. In this daily column, we take a look at the latest rumors from the pro wrestling rumor mill.
Important note: Rumors are just that – rumors. None of this has been confirmed as fact, it’s just circulating in the pro wrestling rumor mill. We track the veracity of the rumors in a weekly feature called Rumor Look Back, which you can find here. Remember to take everything with caution.
Rumors for this day:
- Multiple media outlets have stated that CM Punk signed a new contract with WWE on the day of Survivor Series and it is a “multi-year deal.”
- Fightful Select notes that Punk had an hour-long conversation with Triple H about a week ago and that opened the door for everything, but it all came together at the last minute.
- They also say that everyone involved in the main event match was informed before the match that Punk would be performing at the end of the show.
- According to PW Insider, the Drew McIntyre situation “wasn’t a job since no one was filming Drew backstage,” unlike the Seth Rollins thing where the cameras were rolling in the arena. They don’t know if McIntyre’s upset has anything to do with punk, but Dave Meltzer says there are some who think it does.
- Regarding McIntyre, Insider also recently said that he has not entered into discussions with WWE about a new deal and has apparently told those close to him that he is willing to take time off for his family if necessary, as they suffered from a loss recently.
- On Wrestling Observer Radio, Dave Meltzer said that a lot of people in WWE are being offered “a lot of money to stay.” It was believed that wrestlers wouldn’t get bigger money after the TKO deal, but the opposite seems to be the case and they don’t want anyone to leave.
- Replacing Carlito with Dragon Lee at Survivor Series was always part of the plan and not a last-minute decision, says the Observer.
- Will Ospreay’s AEW contract is for more than three years and is “a seven-figure annual deal,” according to Fightful.
