Speculating on the rumors surrounding pro wrestling is a favorite pastime of many fans, perhaps the second most popular pastime after watching the matches. In this daily column, we take a look at the latest rumors being churned out by the pro wrestling rumor mill.

Important reminder: rumors are just that – rumours. None of this has been confirmed as fact, it’s just circulating in the pro wrestling rumor mill. We track the accuracy of rumors in a weekly feature called Rumor Look Back, which can be found here. Remember, take everything with a grain of salt.

Rumors of the day:

  • Wrestling Observer Radio’s Dave Meltzer says WWE is “very concerned about Sami [Zayn] chants” during Cody Rhodes’ performance on Raw this week, which is why Paul Heyman was so quick to interrupt Cody. WWE is concerned that Sami chants will affect Cody’s momentum heading into WrestleMania 39, so they designed the segment so that the audience didn’t have much time to get those chants going.
  • According to Wrestlenomics’ Brandon Thurston, WWE’s Backlash event will take place on May 6th, while the King & Queen of the Ring event will take place on Saturday, May 27th. These are both premium live events that take place on Saturdays. It’s worth noting that AEW’s Double or Nothing pay-per-view is scheduled for May 28th, so WWE and AEW will both be hosting big events this weekend.
  • The next WWE show in Saudi Arabia is scheduled for the month of May, but it is unknown which of the above events will be held there.
  • The events page of the WWE website has quietly added Ronda Rousey to the lineup for next week’s episode of Raw (February 27) in Grand Rapids, Michigan, suggesting that she will appear on the show.
  • WRKD wrestling claims that “the idea of Shawn Michaels forcing Grayson Waller to face off against a debutant Dragon Lee” was discussed for NXT.
  • According to Meltzer, the reality show AEW: All Access is the replacement for Rhodes to the Top.
  • Wrestling Observer Live’s Bryan Alvarez was impressioned that AEW: All Access will be “a really fascinating show” with “a lot of good stuff” and “a lot of interesting things” that fans have heard about before.
