Claudette Dion makes no secret of it: she’s had enough of French gossip magazines’ insistence on spreading untruths about her famous sister.
From Closer to Public, including Ici Paris, Gala and France Dimanche, all the French gossip magazines quickly understood that anything related to Céline Dion sells.

We flaunt his state of health, we speculate about his supposedly broken relationship with his son René-Charles, about his flirtation with Satanism (!), about the severity of his illness and even about his death (announced several times on Twitter).
“I don’t know where they find it… it doesn’t make sense,” says an indignant Céline Dion’s godmother, who the Quebec media now turns to for news about Céline.
“It would really surprise me if they [les journaux à potins français] I have news that I don’t have,” adds Claudette Dion as she speaks about the French media’s coverage of the superstar, especially since the announcement of his illness.
In fact, you will never see Claudette Dion with a gossip magazine in her hand again, especially not from France.
“I stopped reading all of this because, first of all, the pictures they’re using of her… it’s not cool. Is this what it means to idolize someone? Because they say they idolize him. It’s really normal,” she adds, visibly irritated and saddened by her sister’s image.
Claudette Dion asserts: “It’s not true that Céline is in a wheelchair, that’s not true for René-Charles, all of that is not true, I don’t know where you can find it,” says the 74-year-old sister with her usual openness.
“Making me believe that her son won’t talk to her anymore or that he’ll squander his mother’s fortune to find out she’s in a wheelchair doesn’t make any sense! I spoke to her on the phone, she is doing well, she is laughing, although the illness is still there. Her whole focus is on her recovery,” assures the woman, who firmly believes in the seriousness and discipline with which Céline throws herself into everything, from her work to her recovery.
