According to a report, actor Russell Crowe and his girlfriend Britney Theriot were refused service at an Australian restaurant for failing to adhere to the smart casual dress code.
The pair went to eat at Mr. Miyagi, a Japanese fusion eatery in Melbourne, wearing outfits they’d worn tennis in earlier in the day, but staff quickly refused them entry.
“He (Russell) went there wearing a brand new Ralph Lauren polo shirt having just played a game of tennis and was turned away,” Crowes manager Grant Vandenberg told the Chron Australia.
The restaurant described itself as “casual but chic” where “work clothes, athletic wear, singlets and thongs (flip-flops)” are prohibited.

Mr Miyagi’s management reiterated their decision to sack the Gladiator star, saying no one is above their rules.
“We treat everyone equally. It doesn’t matter who you are or if you are Russell Crowe. We have a dress code that we enforce at all levels,” owner Kristian Klein told The Herald Sun.
“We’re sticking with that and I don’t think it’s unreasonable. Klein continued. “But I personally know that if I’m in my thongs[flip flops]and my boardies[shorts]I won’t try to go to a nice restaurant because I wouldn’t be dressed appropriately.”

Klein said the employee who refused Crowe’s entry did not know who the Robin Hood actor was, a “very unfortunate situation for everyone”.
Miyagi-san enjoyed the situation and updated his dress code on Instagram.
“Dress smart casual unless you’re Russell Crowe, then wear whatever,” the sign said.
The restaurant also turned to Crowe and cleaned the air.
“Dear Russell, Your last visit seems to have caught us on the wrong foot. After much thought about what happened, we have permanently changed our dress code,” the caption reads. “We look forward to seeing you again in the future, you are always welcome at Miyagi-san.”
Radio station Steve Price and his girlfriend were turned away just days later for breaking the dress code at the restaurant, according to the Chron.
Crowe, who began dating Theriot in November 2020, joins the list of the youngest A-listers to get the boot from restaurants.
Talk show host James Corden was banned from Keith McNally’s Balthazar restaurant in Manhattan in October 2022 after allegedly abusing the restaurant’s employees.
Other stars who have gotten the boot from establishments include Ariana Grande, from a California donut shop, after she was caught by security camera licking pastries unsupervised.
