MOSCOW, 19 December (EFE).- Russia on Monday accused the United States of becoming “increasingly” involved in the Ukraine conflict and of increasing its presence “on the ground”, threatening a direct confrontation between Moscow and Washington.

“Following the resounding failure in Afghanistan, the United States is increasingly embroiled in a new conflict,” Russian Foreign Ministry spokeswoman Maria Zakharova said in a statement.

In this sense, he assured that Washington is not only supporting the “neo-Nazi regime” in Kyiv with money, but is also increasing its presence on the ground, without giving any further details.

“This is a dangerous and short-sighted policy that brings the United States and Russia to the brink of direct confrontation,” he warned.

Zakharova said Moscow is calling on the Biden administration to “seriously assess the situation” and not further aggravate the “dangerous spiral of escalation”.

“We hope Washington will listen to us, although there is no reason for optimism at the moment,” he told EFE
