Russia moves to counterattack on wartime communications in Ukraine. “Kyiv could use weapons of mass destruction to gain an advantage on the battlefield,” said Moscow’s deputy ambassador to the UN, Dmitry Polyansky, quoted by TASS agency. The diplomat spoke of “small amounts for tactical purposes” and, according to Polyansky, “this is already planned at the Azovstal plant, but the Russian leadership’s decision to call off the attack jeopardized these plans.”
A truce in Ukraine is now impossible, the Russian diplomat added, after which Kyiv could use the truce to “regroup forces and carry out provocations”. “Ukraine is undermining our efforts to open humanitarian corridors,” Polyansky said, “so I don’t think a ceasefire is a good option right now.”
