Russia announces it will “react harshly” to Ukrainian attacks on its territory

sputnik Russia’s Foreign Ministry has warned that attempts by Kiev and Western countries to provoke Ukraine into firing on Russian targets would result in a “hard response from Russia”.

Maria Zakharova, an official at Russia’s Foreign Ministry, warned of what she described as encouraging Ukrainian attacks on Russian territory.

“I would like to take seriously the statements of the Ministry of Defense of our country in Kyiv and in western capitals that the continuation of Ukraine’s provocations to hit Russian targets will certainly lead to a harsh reaction from Russia. […]. We do not advise you to continue to test our patience,” Zakharova said on Thursday.

Weapons shipped to Ukraine by Western countries could fall into the hands of terrorists just as much as weapons handed over to the opposition in Syria, the Russian Foreign Ministry official said.

“The parallels with the Syrian events are clear, when arms supplied en masse by the West to the socalled moderate Syrian opposition were sold on the black market and ended up in the hands of Islamic State terrorists. Do you remember who the West later fought against? USA? Great Britain? Paris? Berlin? Rome? Against the same Islamic State, of course,” she added.
