Russian forces have destroyed an ammunition depot and two planes at Myrhorod airbase in central-eastern Ukraine, Reuters reported, citing Russian sources.

Ukrainian head of the Poltava regional military administration, Dmytro Lunin, wrote on his Telegram channel that there had been a Russian attack that caused “significant damage” and two people were injured, but gave no further details.

Reuters reports that a Ukrainian Air Force MiG-29 fighter jet and a Mi-8 helicopter were destroyed in the attack, ministry spokesman Igor Konashenkov said, according to Russian independent news service Interfax.

The website also reports that Konashenkov said another ammunition depot was destroyed near Novomoskovsk, 124 miles east of Myrhorod.

Ukraine is bracing for a new Russian offensive in the Donbass on its eastern border after Putin’s troops failed to capture Kiev.

Ukrainian Foreign Minister Dmytro Kuleba told NATO members Thursday that the “battle for Donbass will remind you of World War II,” Kuleba said.

He used this warning to urge Western allies to provide more heavy weapons, including air defense systems, artillery, armored vehicles and jets.

Due to the increased shelling, Ukrainian officials have urged civilians to evacuate their homes in the eastern parts of the country.

A Russian missile attack on Friday hit a train station in eastern Ukraine packed with people who had fled their homes. More than 50 people were killed.

The attack occurred in Kramatorsk, a city in Donetsk, an oblast also home to pro-Russian separatist forces. Donetsk is part of the Donbass region.
