Russia bombed Kyiv to “humiliate the UN,” says Zelenskyy

You Russian bombings of Kyiv during UN SecretaryGeneral’s visitAntónio Guterres, aimed to “humiliate” the international organization, said Ukrainian President Volodmyr Zelenskyy this Thursday (28).

These bombings “say a lot about the efforts of Russian leaders to humiliate the UN and everything that organization stands for,” Zelenskyy said in a video published on Telegram.

A UN spokesman said the UN SecretaryGeneral and his entourage in Kyiv were “shaken” by the nearness of Russian bombings in the Ukrainian capital, although everyone was “safe”.

“It’s a war zone, but it’s shocking that this happened close to where we are,” spokesman Saviano Abreu told AFP, without specifying how far the delegation was from the Russian missile impact sites.

Guterres visited Ukraine this Thursday after he had traveled to Russia last Tuesday (26) and met the country’s President Vladimir Putin. The UN chief is trying to negotiate a ceasefire between the two countries.
