Moscow, July 8 (EFE). – Russia’s Foreign Ministry today reiterated that the US decision to send cluster bombs to Ukraine was another expression of Washington’s “aggressive anti-Russian course” and a gesture of “desperation” at the “failure” of the Ukrainian counteroffensive.

“The Joe Biden administration’s decision to supply cluster munitions to the Kiev regime is another blatant expression of the aggressive US anti-Russian course aimed at prolonging the conflict in Ukraine and fighting to the ‘last Ukrainian’,” Foreign Affairs spokeswoman María Zajárova said in a statement.

According to Russian diplomacy, it is a “cynical attempt to prolong the agony of the current Ukrainian authorities, regardless of the civilian casualties.”

And according to Russia, the delivery of cluster bombs is “a gesture of desperation and a sign of impotence in the face of the failure of the much-publicized Ukrainian counter-offensive.”

Zajárova assured that the delivery of these weapons “will not affect the course of the special military operation, the objectives of which will be fully achieved.”

He argued that the US was well aware that Kiev’s promises to use these indiscriminate weapons “carefully” and “responsibly” were “worthless.”

“Like every time increasingly lethal US and NATO weapons systems are shipped to Ukraine, civilians are at risk,” he said.

The spokeswoman noted that experience with the use of cluster munitions in the Middle East and other regions of the world shows that their elements remain unexploded for a long time and can explode after the end of hostilities.

“By supplying cluster munitions, Washington is actually complicit in the mining of the territory and bears full responsibility for those killed in the blasts, including Russian and Ukrainian children,” he added. EFE
