Repairs to the Crimean bridge, which was damaged by an explosion on Saturday last week, are expected to be completed by July next year. This emerges from a document published by the Russian government on its website.
Russian leadership blames Ukraine for the explosion and significant damage to the bridge. The bridge over the Kerch Strait – between the Black Sea and the Sea of Azov – connects the Ukrainian peninsula of Crimea, annexed by Russia in 2014, to the Russian heartland.
It was inaugurated by Vladimir Putin in 2018 and is a prestigious project of the Russian president. It is also important for supplying Russian troops in Crimea and southern Ukraine.
