Russia declares the West an “existential” threat news

Russia has adopted a new foreign policy strategy declaring the West an “existential” threat. The new strategy has become necessary due to the current “upheavals in the international arena”, President Vladimir Putin said today.

His foreign minister, Sergey Lavrov, spoke of Moscow’s reaction to “the existential nature of threats to the security and development of our country by the actions of hostile states”.

Dozens of “hostile” states

Moscow has classified dozens of states as “hostile”. They also include EU countries including Austria. Great Britain, the United States, Canada and Australia are also on the list. They all imposed comprehensive sanctions on Moscow due to Russia’s war of aggression against Ukraine.

Lavrov specifically accused the US of being the driving force behind “anti-Russian reserves” in the world. Washington and its allies have waged a “hybrid war” against Moscow.
