Russia has announced that it will focus on “liberating” Donbas in Ukraine

The Moscow Ministry of Defense made it clear for the first time that it will focus on the complete liberation of Donbas and the achievement of the main goals of the first phase of the invasion.

For the first time since the beginning of the war, the Russian government has spoken openly about the goals of the socalled special operation in Ukraine.

The Moscow Ministry of Defense, in a series of statements made by the Russian Tass agency and reported by Reuters, made it clear that it was considering two options for a special operation: one limited to the territories of the selfproclaimed Donbas republics, the rest throughout Ukraine.

The hostilities, with many open fronts, showed that the option so far was one that covered a large part of Ukrainian territory from the assault on Kyiv to the southwestern part of the country where the port city of Odessa is located.

According to the Ministry of Defense, Russia will now focus on the complete liberation of Donbas, without excluding the possibility of air strikes on Ukrainian cities.
