Russia paints bombers on the ground to serve as drone decoys

In order to stop losing their strategic bombers to drone attacks, the Russians are using a new technology. Images published by military websites such as The War Zone show paintings on the ground used as decoys.

After installing tires to disguise the thermal signature and design of fighter jets to mislead kamikaze drones launched against the country, the Russian Air Force has now similarly painted bombers at the airfield.

An image taken by the PlanetLabs satellite and published by The War Zone portal shows an image of a Tupolev Tu95 Bear bomber covered in tires and two other alleged “aircraft” next to it.

However, if you look at the details in the photo taken, you can see that the planes on the right do not have a shadow or a rounder fuselage like the original, nor do they have tires on them.

The strategy, which is not new, would serve to deceive the enemy, although in this case only through satellite photos that showed the whole world the situation of Russian aviation. These images from space are used to prepare the drone strike mission flying at low altitude.

Now that the hoax has been exposed, the painting on the floor should not have a confusing effect on the attacker.
