Russia, Putin changes army

Maneuvers ahead for the Russian army. Russian General Rustam Muradov, responsible for the failure of the 155th Naval Brigade in the failed Siege of Vuhledar, has been transferred to command the Eastern Military District, the Defense Ministry confirmed. Hated by Wagner’s mercenaries for his actions in Syria, Muradov famously stays away from the front lines for fear of being bullied by his own men.

The appointment of Andrey Mordvichev as head of the Central Military District was also confirmed, replacing General Alexander Lapin, who was promoted to chief of staff of Russia’s ground forces last month. Last year, Mordvichev led Russian forces in the capture of the southern port city of Mariupol, culminating in the capture of the Azov Valley Steelworks after a long siege.

Sergey Kuzovlev has been the commander of the southern district since last January, the ministry also announced today, along with the appointment of Evgheny Nikiforov, the commander of the western district.
