Russia regrets Kiev’s slowness in dialogue with Moscow

Peskov said that during the meeting, Russian Defense Minister Sergei Shoigu reported on the progress of the operation in Ukraine and efforts to provide assistance to the population, ensure their safety and restore vital infrastructure in the areas under his control.

Russia began a military operation in Ukraine on February 24 after authorities in the selfproclaimed Donetsk and Luhansk People’s Republics requested help to repel mounting aggression from Kyiv.

Previously, Moscow had recognized the independence and sovereignty of both territories and signed treaties of friendship, cooperation and mutual assistance with their leaders, which included the establishment of diplomatic relations and military assistance.
