Moscow, April 4.- Russian Presidential Spokesman Dmitry Peskov assured that his country will achieve all the objectives of the military operation in Ukraine that began on February 24.
In a speech this Sunday to Russia 1 TV channel, the senior official said that the signing of an agreement as the culmination of negotiations between Moscow and Kyiv will be an important step towards resolving the bilateral conflict and ending hostilities.
“I hope that as a result of the efforts being made within the framework of the Russian-Ukrainian negotiations, we will also get some kind of document signed, and this will be an important step towards normalizing the situation,” he said.
The head of the Kremlin’s press office reiterated that Russian President Vladimir Putin can meet his Ukrainian counterpart Vladimir Zelenskyy only if a concrete text is agreed between the two countries.
“Putin has never refused such a meeting, and such a meeting, yes, it is hypothetically possible,” Peskov said, emphasizing the need to mature “a concrete document, not a set of ideas.” He emphasized that “then the time will come for such a meeting”.
In another part of the program he commented that there could not be complete isolation of Russia and that sooner or later a dialogue with the West would be opened “whether the other side of the ocean wants it or not”.
“That’s technologically impossible in today’s world. The world is much bigger than Europe and Russia itself is much bigger than Europe,” he warned.
Russia began a military operation in Ukraine on February 24 after authorities in the self-proclaimed Donetsk and Lugansk People’s Republics requested help to repel rising aggression and intense bombing in Kiev.
Previously, Moscow had recognized the independence and sovereignty of both territories and signed treaties of friendship, cooperation and mutual assistance with their leaders, which included the establishment of diplomatic relations and military assistance.
In his informational speech about the start of the operation, Russian President Vladimir Putin stated that the goal is to protect the people of Donbass from the abuses and genocide in Kyiv over the past eight years, in addition to “demilitarization” and ” Denazification”. Ukraine.
