According to Russian military information, a drone attacked the Russian regional capital, Kursk, near the border with Ukraine last night. The Russian Defense Ministry reported that air defense shot down a Ukrainian drone at 8:30 pm local time (7:30 pm CEST). A video posted on Telegram channels showed clouds of smoke near the airport, east of the city.
Earlier in the day, drones had already attacked targets in a city about 110 kilometers behind the border. One of them is said to have hit the building of the Russian internal secret service FSB, and the second an oil refinery, Kiev media reported, citing the Ukrainian military intelligence service. The Kursk region officially announced that a drone caused minor damage to the roof of an administrative building.
On the southern outskirts of the Russian metropolis of Saint Petersburg, electricity and water supplies failed on Sunday night. Russian Telegram channels also reported that there was a brief power outage at Pulkovo airport, which is just five kilometers away. Earlier, according to unconfirmed reports, residents heard a loud noise and saw a flash of light. The information could not be independently verified.
