Russia announced the end of the Ukrainian counteroffensive. “The enemy has been stopped and his counter-offensive, which was so loud, has been completely stopped,” Yevgeny Balitsky, the Moscow-appointed head of the Zaporizhzhia region, said in a statement. There are still some minor skirmishes near the village of Robotyne and near the village of Shcherbaky. There have been conflicting reports from Ukraine.
The Ukrainian General Staff said on Sunday night that Russian forces carried out several unsuccessful attacks near Robotyne and Verbowe, a village a few kilometers to the east. Ukrainian forces carried out “offensive operations” in the direction of Melitopol in the west of the Zaporizhia region and “exhausted the enemy along the entire front line”. Russia, however, reported that its air defense forces repelled Ukrainian airstrikes in that country.
