Russia says arms shipments to Ukraine are a threat and fueling instability

The Russian government said on Thursday (28th) that the supply of arms to Ukraine was seen as a threat to the security of the European continent. The comment comes from Kremlin spokesman Dmitry Peskov.

This response from Russia followed a comment by British Foreign Secretary Liz Truss that countries opposing an invasion of Ukraine should redouble their support, including supplies of heavy weapons, tanks and aircraft.

Russian President Vladimir Putin said on Wednesday (27): “If anyone intends to intervene in current events (in Ukraine) from outside and create unacceptable threats of a strategic nature for us, he should know that our response will destroy.” , he declared at a session of the Russian Parliament.

Dmitry Peskov’s statement increases tensions with Western countries:

“The tendency to send arms, including heavy weapons, to Ukraine and other countries are actions that threaten the security of the continent and cause instability,” he said.

Russia has treated the invasion of Ukraine as a special operation, using NATO and Western countries as aggressors who would force a defensive response.
