March 10 – China has refused to supply aircraft parts to Russian airlines, a Russian aviation authority official said Thursday after Boeing (BA.N) and Airbus (AIR.PA) stopped deliveries of the components.

The Russian aviation sector is under pressure from Western sanctions over its invasion of Ukraine, and the Russian Foreign Ministry warned this week that the safety of Russian passenger flights was at risk. More

Agencies, including Interfax, quoted Valery Kudinov, a Rosaviatsia spokesman responsible for maintaining the aircraft’s airworthiness, as saying Russia would look to obtain parts from countries including Turkey and India after failing to obtain them from China.

He also said that Russian companies are registering their aircraft, many of which were registered abroad, in Russia following US and European Union aviation sanctions, and that he expects some others to be returned to leasing companies.

In addition, the bill released on Thursday showed that the Russian government plans to oblige domestic airlines to pay for leased planes in rubles and may prevent them from returning planes to foreign companies if the lease is cancelled.
