Russia Says It Destroyed NATOSupplied Weapons Depot in Western Ukraine

The Russian army announced on Wednesday (15th) that it had destroyed an arms depot in western Ukraine that had been supplied by NATO countries.

The Russian Defense Ministry said in a statement that “near the city of Zolochiv in the Lviv region, highprecision Kalibr cruise missiles destroyed a cache of foreign weapons supplied to Ukraine by NATO countries, including 155mm howitzers M777″. .

Maxim Kozytski, governor of the Lviv region (west), said in a telegram message that Ukrainian air defenses dropped a Russian missile over the city on Tuesday and that six people were slightly injured in the fall.

Unlike eastern and southern Ukraine, which has been the scene of fighting between Russians and Ukrainians for the past three and a half months, the west has been the target of sporadic attacks by Russian troops targeting military installations receiving Western weapons.

In recent weeks, the US government has shipped several batteries of M777 howitzers to Ukraine, stateoftheart artillery pieces that until recently were used by the US Army in Afghanistan.

President Volodymyr Zelenskyy urged Westerners to send “faster…more weapons and military equipment” because “Russians have 10100 times more”.

“We get only 10% of the weapons that Ukraine needs, without which we cannot win this war,” lamented the country’s Deputy Defense Minister Anna Maliar.
