Russia says Kiev will attack Zaporizhia nuclear power plant on July 5 with highprecision weapons

Ukraine, in turn, accuses Russia of planning an attack on the Zaporizhia nuclear power plant.

Zaporizhia nuclear power plant

247 Rosenergoatom, a subsidiary of Russia’s stateowned nuclear power company Rosatom, said Tuesday Kiev plans to launch a July 5 highprecision attack on the Zaporizhia nuclear power plant, which has been under Russian military occupation since early March last year, using weapons and drones, Sputnik agency reports .

Spokesman Renat Karchaa stated in an interview with the channel Rossiya 24: “Today we received information that I am allowed to talk about … On July 5, literally at night in the dark, Ukrainian forces will try to attack the Zaporizhia nuclear power plant plant with highprecision longrange means and unmanned kamikaze aircraft. According to the official, Ukraine plans to use ammunition loaded with radioactive waste.

Ukraine, in turn, accuses Russia of planning an attack on the Zaporizhia nuclear power plant. Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelenskyy warned last Saturday (1st) that there was still a “serious threat” at the plant. He also said Moscow was “technically ready” to trigger a localized explosion at the plant. Zelenskyy named the Ukrainian secret service as the source of his information.

The exchange of accusations takes place against the background of a possible Ukrainian counteroffensive in the Zaporizhia region. According to Vladimir Rogov, a senior official of the Zaporizhia regional administration, in the coming days the Ukrainian armed forces are preparing to attempt the second phase of a largescale counteroffensive in the Zaporizhia region.

On September 30, 2022, Russian President Vladimir Putin and the heads of Donetsk and Luhansk, as well as the Kherson and Zaporizhia regions, signed agreements on the accession of these territories to Russia after referendums voted by a majority of the population in favor of entry into Russia.
