RUSSIA-UKRAINE LIVE: Vladimir Putin threatens to cut gas pipeline, Shell pulls out of Moscow, Russian army general Vitaly Gerasimov killed, Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelensky pleads for more help and will there be an invasion of Poland?

Buses full of people fleeing a Russian invasion of Ukraine left today through safe corridors from two war-torn cities as the war entered its 13th day.

United Nations officials said the exodus of refugees from the country had reached two million amid the biggest ground war in Europe since World War II.

The Russian attack has trapped people in besieged cities where food and water are scarce, and previous attempts to get civilians to safety have failed.

President of Ukraine Volodymyr Zelensky, who will address British MPs via video link today at 17:00, called for the expansion of humanitarian corridors for civilians.

He said the child had died of dehydration in Mariupol, which was a desperate situation in the city, and again pleaded with Western countries for air support.

As the invasion enters its second week, Russian forces have made significant gains in southern Ukraine but have stalled in some other regions.

Ukrainian soldiers and volunteers fortified the capital city of Kyiv with hundreds of checkpoints and barricades designed to thwart the takeover.

A continuous rain of shells and rockets hit other major communities, including the Kyiv suburb of Bucha, where the mayor reported heavy artillery fire.
