The attempts to exclude this country from the G20 group, i.e. the most important industrialized and emerging countries, were presented by the Russian authorities as irrelevant.
“The G20 format is important, but in the present circumstances, when most participants are at an economic war with us, nothing bad will happen to us,” President Vladimir Putin’s spokesman Dmitry Peskov said on Friday.
Russia: Excluding the G20 would not be wrong
The United States is aggressively trying to isolate Russia, Peskov said. “So far, this line has only been partially successful, the world is more diverse, there are not only US and European countries.” Many countries have a much more balanced and sober attitude by asking questions and having real dialogue, without excluding Russia.
US President Biden spoke in favor of excluding Russia
US President Joe Biden spoke in favor of excluding Russia from the G20 the day before. However, in the case of China, at least one country is also a member that is considered Russia’s ally.
Despite the war in Ukraine, Putin wants to appear at the G20 meetings
Despite the war in Ukraine and international pressure, Russian President Vladimir Putin was able to take part in the G20 summit on the Indonesian island of Bali in October. Putin “intends to come to the G20 meeting,” said the Russian ambassador to Indonesia Lyudmila Vorobyov. Later, the Kremlin in Moscow said it was too early to talk about it. The Bali Summit will take place on October 30 and 31.
