Russia urges Danish response to Nord Stream sabotage September 5th

Despite Denmark’s denial of Russia’s involvement in the investigation into the attacks on the Nord Stream gas pipeline, Moscow is demanding answers from Copenhagen, Foreign Ministry spokeswoman Maria Zajárova said today.

The diplomat stressed that only an international investigation involving Russian representatives could provide reliable data on the causes of the attack and who commissioned it, the Sputnik news agency emphasized on Saturday.

On September 26, the company Nord Stream 2 AG, operator of the Russian gas pipeline Nord Stream 2, reported a gas leak in one of the two infrastructure pipelines near the Danish island of Bornholm for an unknown reason.

It later turned out that the two strands of the parallel Nord Stream 1 gas pipeline had also been damaged.

Cataloging the explosions of terrorist attacks, Russia’s foreign intelligence service recently revealed that it had evidence pointing to the involvement of certain Western countries.

Nord Stream 1 suspended the transport of Russian gas to Germany at the end of August because Western sanctions prevent the Siemens company from repairing the infrastructure’s turbines.

In addition, the newly built Nord Stream 2, which has been operational since October 2021, has been blocked by German Chancellor Olaf Scholz since February of this year because of his geopolitical disputes with Moscow.

The United States, which wants to sell liquefied natural gas from its shale fields to Europe, opposed the construction of Nord Stream 2, as did Ukraine and several European countries such as Poland, Latvia and Lithuania. (Latin Press)
