Russia wants to stop its important fertilizer exports, especially to Europe

Moscow is one of the leading producers of fertilizers in the world.

Russia’s Ministry of Industry on Friday advised Russian fertilizer producers to temporarily suspend exports, citing “sabotage” of foreign companies preventing the transportation of the product, whose country is one of the main producers.

“Currently, a situation is emerging in which due to sabotage of supplies from a number of foreign logistics companies, farmers in Europe and other countries can not receive the agreed volumes of fertilizers,” the ministry said in a statement.

“The Russian Ministry of Industry and Trade was forced to recommend that Russian producers temporarily suspend the supply of Russian fertilizers intended for export,” he added.

This recommendation is made “until the carriers resume their regular work and do not provide guarantees for the full implementation of Russian exports of fertilizers.”

The ministry said it would continue to meet the needs of Russian farmers.

Russia is one of the world’s leading producers of fertilizers. Europe and Brazil in particular are highly dependent on Russian fertilizers.
