Stripped, tied up and taken off in trucks to unknown destinations. Such is the fate of the Russian commanders who rebel against Putin. At least, this is what emerges from the records collected by the Security Service of Ukraine (SBU) and then published on social media. It’s not the first time talks between the Russian military have come to light. But this time, a different reality emerges from the devices used by Zelensky’s army specialists. And it’s different than refusing to fight and hurting yourself to not continue the atrocities of war.

Russian commanders undressed, mutinies
To understand the context in which the repressions take place, we must first make a premise. Some of the Russian soldiers are afraid to fight with the Ukrainian armed forces and “for this reason the mutinies are taking on a mass character”. In a comment, the Ukrainian service refers to the video of the wiretapping.

Intervention by Muradov
Between young people who refuse to go to the front and soldiers who don’t want to fight, the Russian army had to look for answers. For this purpose, the general was sent to the front Rustam Muradov, Deputy Commander of Russia’s Southern Military District, known for his brutal actions during the Russian intervention in Syria. And Muradov ended up wiretapping. As one Russian soldier told a friend, he organized “exemplary trials” in which he humiliated soldiers who refused to continue the war in Ukraine.

“Muradov came and had an exemplary process – listening to his father intercept a Russian soldier – because nobody wanted to continue. The commanders didn’t want to put their young ones to death. For example, he undressed these commanders, tied their hands. They had to take everything out of their pockets. He threw them on the buses and took them away. ‘ A humiliation. For Putin, there is also a shortage of men at the front. The soldier admitted that he too is waiting to be sent “on leave”. “Russia cannot officially admit that it has so many soldiers who refuse to fight in Ukraine.”

Who is General Muradov?
General Rustam Muradov is one of several EU-sanctioned Russian military officials. In 2017 he was awarded the title of Hero of the Russian Federation, presented to him personally by Putin. He is currently Deputy Commander of Russia’s Southern Military District and is known for his brutal actions during the Russian intervention in Syria.
Putin is ‘a crazy old man’
In a second recording, another man, identified as a Russian soldier, can be heard expressing his frustration at the situation in Ukraine to a friend. His main complaint appears to be Putin’s Victory Day speech on May 9, in which the Russian president addressed a huge annual military parade to celebrate the end of Russia’s involvement in World War II 77 years ago. The friend tells the soldier that she found Putin’s speech “lousy,” adding that he “shook all day” after hearing it. The Russian soldier replies: “Well, what do you want, he’s a crazy old man.”
