Moscow, June 22 (Prensa Latina) At a meeting with members of the Russian Security Council, Defense Minister Sergei Shoigu briefed President Vladimir Putin on preparations for a new Ukrainian offensive.
The Ukrainian army is preparing for further offensive actions, but the Russian armed forces are also taking action against such enemy movements, the headline continues, referring to the situation in the area of the special military operation. The head of the defense ministry, responding to a question from Putin, said the Ukrainian armed forces had suffered significant casualties over the past 16 days of hostilities.
“The enemy has reduced its activity and is now regrouping,” said Shoigu, recalling that in his opinion, despite the losses suffered, the Ukrainian troops still have the power for the offensive.
“Of course, despite the huge losses in equipment and personnel, the enemy still has the strength to conduct further offensive operations. “We note that they are making preparations for further offensive actions, including against Federation territory,” Shoigu said.
Earlier, Russian Security Council Secretary Nikolai Patrushev informed the president that Ukraine had lost more than 13,000 soldiers, 246 tanks, including 13 foreign ones, and 595 armored fighting vehicles, including 152 infantry soldiers.
Since February 24, 2022, Russia has been conducting a special military operation in eastern Ukraine, which Putin says aims to demilitarize and denazify the neighboring country and prevent attacks by the Kiev regime against the civilian population of the Lugansk Donetsk People’s Republics.
